What should I do to keep my Bitcoin safe?

This is a great question, and one we get asked a lot. Any account on the Web can be hacked, so it's important to enable good security practices on all of the accounts you own.

Firstly, Bottle Pay is built on the Lightning Network, which is itself still in Beta, so we advise not keeping more than you would be willing to lose in any wallet on the Lightning Wallet, including Bottle Pay.

You should ensure you apply additional security measures in your social accounts, such as activating two-factor authentication (2FA), enabling account lockout from unrecognised devices and so on. Within Bottle Pay, you can also enable 2FA for sending Bitcoin, so only you can authorise the movement of funds from your device.

We recommend, where possible, to use a third party authentication service (such as Authy) for your 2FA, which should provide an extra layer of security in the event of your phone number being compromised.
